THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION. This National Guard position is for a SECURITY SPECIALIST (TRAINING SPECIALIST), Position Description Number D2161000 and is part of the HI 154 SFS, National Guard. LOCATION: 154th Security Forces Squadron, Hawaii Air National Guard, Joint Base Pearl Harbor Hickam, Hawaii

Ensure that the Questionnaire is completed on Application Manager. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must have at least one year of experience equivalent to at least next lower grade level. Experience, education or training in collecting and analyzing data effectively, efficiently, and accurately. Able to apply procedures and directives by reading and interpreting technical material. Ability to communicate clearly and effectively orally and in writing, using presentation and report formats. Demonstrated ability to follow directions, to read, understand, and retain a variety of instructions, regulations, and procedures. Learned ability to assess the surrounding environment to recognize immediate risk levels. Must have the education and validated understanding of the basic principles and concepts of the occupational series and grade for one of the seven organizational program disciplines and its applicable Security Series career. OTHER REQUIREMENTS: For positions requiring the operation of motor vehicles, candidates must have a valid state driver's license for the state in which they live or are principally employed. For positions requiring a security clearance (Secret or Top Secret) the applicant must possess or be able to obtain a clearance within one year of appointment. MILITARY TECHNICIAN COMPATIBILITY POSITION: Prior to placement in this position, the selected applicant must be assigned to an appropriate military position and must meet the definition of a dual status technician in accordance with 32 U S C 709.

  1. Must be able to obtain and maintain the appropriate security clearance of the position.
  2. This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968. An individual convicted of a qualifying crime of domestic violence may not perform the duties of this position.
  3. Ability to establish effective professional working relationships with coworkers and customers, contributing to a cooperative working environment and successful accomplishment of the mission.
  4. *4. Irregular and/or overtime (compensatory) hours may be required to support operational requirements or contingencies or may be required to work hours outside of the normal duty day.

NOTES TO CANDIDATES
  • a. Situations of inversion of military rank are not permitted, i.e., a military technician may not be militarily senior to his or her full-time supervisor.
  • b. Authorization for payment of PCS expenses may be granted only after determination is made that payment is in the best interest of the Hawaii National Guard.
