The Air Force Civilian Service (AFCS) is looking for a full-time Security Specialist (GG-0080-13), performing as a Special Security Officer, working at the 3rd Operations Support Squadron (OSS), Joint Base (JB) Elmendorf-Richardson, in Anchorage, Alaska.

This position is a Defense Civilian Intelligence Personnel System (DCIPS) position aligned under authorities of Section 1601, Chapter 83 of Title 10, United States Code and DoD Instruction 1400.25-V2007.

Depending on the type of position (competitive/excepted) you are selected for, you will be required to serve a 1-year probationary period OR 2-year trial period.

Salary ($120,348 - $156,455) based on experience.

Relocation expenses may be available based on experience.

Qualifications/Requirements

In this position you will serve as a Wing security specialist to protect the enterprise from espionage, terrorism, and threats of unauthorized disclosure and/or compromise of information or material considered vital to enterprise and enterprise mission interests, national defense or national security. Also, this position serves as the Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) Special Security Officer and Chief of Security providing technical expertise and strategic support in the application of policies and procedures relating to the construction, renovation and management of Sensitive Compartmented Information Facilities (SCIFs) for 3rd Wing, overseeing two groups, 10 squadrons, Wing staff, and Air Expeditionary Wing members. Finally, you will serve as a consultant for all the Department of War (DoW) core security disciplines to include Personnel Security, Information Security, Industrial Security, Cybersecurity, TEMPEST Technical Security, and Training in support of SCI security systems, personnel, and facilities located at JB Elmendorf-Richardson and in support of 3rd Wing operations in Alaska, the Pacific, and across the world during peacetime and combat.

Must be a U.S. Citizen

Must be able to obtain & maintain a “Top Secret” Security clearance with access to Sensitive Compartment Information (SCI)

This position is designated as a Drug Test Designated Position

This is a Mission Essential position and personnel may be required to report for duty at normal times when the base is closed or delayed reporting and remain on duty during phased or early release.

Must be able to obtain and maintain Department of Defense Security Fundamentals Professional and Security Asset Protection Professional Certifications within 2 years of the initial assignment of duties.

This position requires at a minimum, a bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience.

• Knowledge of a wide range of advanced concepts, principles, criteria, requirements, technology, and practices involved in security.
• Knowledge of security program interrelationships to coordinate the objectives and plans of two or more specialized programs to support and promote information sharing and strategies.
• Skill to interpret a variety of security program laws, directives, regulations, and guidance to assist subordinate organizations in establishing and operating internal security programs.
• Skill in the use of analytical principles, practices, and techniques to review, evaluate, and apply several alternatives according to the security requirements for highly specific situations, availability of materials, relationships with other protective programs, and cost/benefit considerations.
