Job summary

The Kansas City National Security Campus (KCNSC) is a premier advanced manufacturing facility supporting the nation's nuclear deterrent. The Security Specialist I role assists with planning, development, and administration of security procedures and programs in compliance with DOE/NNSA directives.

Responsibilities include coordinating access controls, assisting with security awareness training, and communicating policy updates to security staff.

Qualifications

  • At least 1 year experience in law enforcement activities, security operations, or equivalent experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a business-related field or two additional years of direct work experience.
  • Ability to travel up to 5% of the time.
  • Ability to work remote, hybrid, or on-site as directed by management and is determined by the needs of the business.
  • Regular and reliable attendance is an essential function of this job.
  • United States Citizenship.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain, if required for position, a U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) security clearance.

  • Assists with the preparation and implementation of security policies and procedures, and coordinates with appropriate personnel regarding incidents involving security issues.
  • Coordinates access controls to allow authorized personnel or visitor access to restricted records, materials, or areas.
  • Assists with planning and development of security awareness training and education for security operations.
  • Recommends and/or coordinates with other Security personnel on the implementation of policies and procedures in support of management objectives.
  • Develops and facilitates internal communications which may include processing and distribution of information through communications services.

Summary

You Must Have

National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) Requirements For MedPEDs

If you have a medical portable electronic device (MedPED) — such as a pacemaker, defibrillator, drug‑releasing pump, hearing aids or diagnostic equipment used to measure or monitor body functions — you may be required to meet NNSA security requirements if employed by us.

If you have a MedPED and are selected for an on‑site interview, additional steps may be required to ensure compliance with NNSA security requirements before your interview date.
