Job summary

Target Security Specialist at Target is responsible for guest and team safety, applying intelligence-led tactics to prevent theft and maintain a secure store environment. You will respond to incidents, document events, and support store operations with a calm, professional demeanor.

The role requires flexibility for nights, weekends, and holidays, and a strong commitment to safety and customer service. Physical fitness and the ability to lift up to 40 pounds are part of daily duties.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years of age or older.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Meet any state or local licensure and/or other legal requirements related to the position.
• Welcoming and helpful attitude toward all guests and other team members.
• Ability to communicate on multiple frequency devices and operate handheld scanners, and other technology equipment as directed.
• Effective communication skills.
• Work both independently and with a team.
• Manage workload and prioritize tasks independently.

• Respond to and document security incidents in a timely manner.
• Use de-escalation tactics and resources when responding to incidents.
• Conduct merchandise theft recoveries and provide theft apprehension support as needed.
• Submit documentation in the case management system following AP policy and procedures.
• Demonstrate a culture of ethical conduct, safety and compliance.
