Job summary

Akima Data Management is seeking a Security Specialist Generalist to join our Reston, Virginia team on-site for a temporary assignment ending no later than 11/30/26. The role focuses on developing and managing security programs across multiple disciplines, including info, personnel, physical, and industrial security, with SCI clearance as a requirement.

You will collaborate with government customers and internal stakeholders to analyze policies, implement safeguards, and brief senior leaders.

Qualifications

  • Strong writing and reporting skills demonstrated for briefing high-level stakeholders.
  • SFPC certification or ability to obtain within six months of onboarding.
  • Candidate must be able to carry up to 50 lbs and work in Reston, VA.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a Security Specialist SME in disciplines such as Industrial, Personnel, Physical, Information, and SCI Security.
  • Manage and implement security programs; liaison with managers, SMEs, and customers.
  • Develop and evaluate policies, standards, training, and methods to protect information, operations, facilities and personnel.
  • Prepare written reports and assessments; coordinate with agencies to resolve security concerns and improve programs.
  • Review and modify security policies and procedures in assigned areas.

Responsibilities
  • Serves as a Security Specialist and has experience and knowledge working as a subject matter expert in one or more of the following security disciplines: Industrial Security, Personnel Security, Physical Security, Information Security, Operations Security, Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) Security,
  • Responsible for the management, implementation, interpretation, and development of the security program(s). Manages the day-to-day operations of assigned areas and acts as a liaison with higher-level managers, subject matter experts, and customers both within and outside the Agency.
  • Analyzes, plans, advises, and evaluates the development and implementation of policies, procedures, standards, training, and methods for identifying and protecting the information, operations, facilities, and/or personnel of the Agency from unauthorized disclosure, misuse, theft, assault, vandalism, espionage, sabotage, or loss.
  • Conducts security studies, assessments, and surveys and provides recommendations and briefings on policy/position papers related to the Personnel, Physical, Information, Special Compartmented Information/Special Access Programs, Operations, Industrial, Anti-terrorism/Force Protection, and Information Security programs.
  • Prepares written reports and assessments and makes recommendations for corrective action. Coordinates within the Agency, other US agencies, military services, and state, local, and tribal partners to resolve security concerns and to improve security programs. Ensures security standards are being administered by reviewing and making recommendations regarding existing policies, procedures, and techniques and develops new or modifies existing security policies, processes, and procedures in assigned areas.
Qualifications
  • Security Fundamentals professional Certification (SFPC), or the ability to obtain certification within six months of onboarding date.
  • Experience supporting Security related programs with US government.
  • Bachelor’s Degree or 10 years military service required.
  • Strong writing and reporting skills, with the demonstrated ability to brief high level customer stakeholders and senior staff.
  • Experience in reviewing, handling and protecting classified information (Collateral and SCI).
  • Candidate must be able to carry up to 50lbs.
  • Current Top-Secret Clearance with SCI.

This is a temporary role that is set to end no later than 11/30/26.
