Overview

In office based at our headquarters in Riverdale, Utah. The primary responsibility of this position is to safeguard, secure, and control access to all AFCU Corporate Facilities. Security Professionals ensure a safe, secure, and compliant facility environment through technology integration and proactive security protocols. This includes greeting and verifying visitors, monitoring and evaluating CCTV camera feeds and responding to alarm alerts. They are responsible for directing guests and incoming phone calls to appropriate personnel. They will assist with special events in the building and acting as a point of contact during emergency situations. The Security Specialist will conduct patrols of the building throughout the day and helps maintain a clean and secure environment.

The Security Specialist will conduct patrols of the building throughout the day and helps maintain a clean and secure environment. Serving as the first point of contact for visitors and staff, the Security Specialist ensures a secure and welcoming environment. The role combines front desk reception with crucial security responsibilities, including access control, surveillance monitoring, and emergency response coordination. A basic understanding of unarmed security protocol, a professional demeanor, a willingness to be of assistance, the ability to remain attentive and vigilant, especially under pressure, and the accurate recording of information are all vital to this position.

Responsibilities
  • Front Desk Security
  • Greet and verify visitors and employees.
  • Responsible to Issue badges and maintain accuracy of the visitor management system.
  • Assist with questions and problems courteously and promptly.
  • Responsible to answer phone calls and direct them to the appropriate area of responsibility.
  • Assist with routine building tasks, including support for special events and ongoing projects.
  • Escort visitors and vendors within the building as needed.
  • Maintain professional relations with visitors, vendors, callers and employees.
  • Prepare conference rooms for scheduled meetings and assists in maintaining a clean and organized front lobby space.
  • Attends regularly scheduled staff meetings and others are assigned.
  • Perform other physical security-related duties as assigned.
  • Control and monitor corporate building access
  • Responsible to monitor security systems, including Avigilon CCTV, CCure access control, Bosch RPS intrusion detection, and Mountain Alarm monitoring platforms.
  • Maintain situational awareness to detect security irregularities or safety hazards.
  • Monitor all property entrances and ensure exit doors are secured.
  • Oversee departing personnel and contractors to prevent theft or unauthorized removal of property.
  • Coordinates with security and emergency services personnel. Provide clear instructions during security incidents.
  • Conduct multiple daily foot patrols of assigned building.
  • Physical inspections of high security areas ensuring spaces are locked and secure at all times.
  • Detect and report unauthorized vehicles, trespassers, or suspicious individuals.
  • Communicate effectively regarding rule violations, maintaining professionalism and clarity.
  • Access Control system tasks
  • Manage returned temporary visitor and contractor badges, clearing them from building access systems.
  • Coordinate the opening and unlocking of specific doors and gates through the access control system when requested by appropriate personnel.
  • Monitor badge rejects and escalates to the Physical Security Officers.
  • Record Maintenance
  • Maintain daily records of activities and duties for weekly and monthly department reviews.
  • Log identifying information from visitors, vendors, contractors, and employees who have lost their ID.
  • Distribute current records of all employees at the site for evacuation purposes.
  • Coordinate and maintain the calendar for scheduled contractor visits.
  • Fill out detailed incident reports accurately and deliver them promptly to the Physical Security Department.
  • Emergency Assistance
  • Responsible to know and understand emergency procedures and assist Safety team as needed.
  • Contact emergency personnel and police as needed.
  • Act as a contact for safety wardens during evacuations
  • Responsible to complete accident/incident reports emergencies occur
  • Assist Safety Team in fire drills.
  • Participate in monthly panic alarm drills.
  • Professional security appropriate attire
  • Adherence to the company dress code to ensure a professional image and to support safety and operational effectiveness.
  • Present a neat, clean, and professional appearance at all times.
  • Attire must be suitable for security operations, including walking patrols, monitoring systems, and interacting with employees, vendors, and visitors.
  • Dress code requirements may vary by assignment and are subject to management direction in accordance with company policy.

Training/Education/Certification
Qualifications
  • High school graduate or equivalent
  • Valid Driver’s License
Required Knowledge
  • Basic computer knowledge of Microsoft systems primarily Microsoft Excell, Teams, & Outlook
  • Familiarity with Video Management Systems preferred
  • Familiarity with Alarm & Intrusion Detection systems preferred
  • Familiarity with Visitor Management systems and procedures preferred
  • Familiarity with Building Security Protocols preferred
Experience Required
  • 2-4 years of Reception/Front Desk duties or
  • 2-4 years of Building Security duties
