Marathon Petroleum Company LP is seeking a Security Specialist at the Los Angeles Refinery in Carson, CA. You will establish security strategies, manage programs and personnel, and ensure regulatory compliance across sites and distribution channels.

This role requires on-site work with 9/80 or 5/40 schedules, on-call support, and the ability to collaborate with law enforcement and government agencies. A valid driver’s license and TWIC credential are needed.

• Requires a Bachelor Degree in a related field with 4+ years of security experience or a High School Diploma with 8 years of security experience.
• Demonstrates knowledge of risk assessment, incident prevention, and regulatory compliance programs.
• Proficient in Microsoft 365 (Word, Excel, Outlook).

Security Specialist

Job Summary

The Marathon Los Angeles Refinery located in Carson, CA is seeking an experienced Security Specialist to establish security and protection strategies, priorities, and critical tasks at assigned sites and along distribution channels including procedures, training, equipment, visitor and access controls, security communications and information sharing.

The available onsite schedules for the position are 9/80 or 5/40 , on-call duty is required and support of TAR as needed. Core business hours: 7 AM - 4 PM.

Key Responsibilities

• Establishes security and protection strategies, priorities, and critical tasks at assigned sites and along distribution channels including procedures, training, equipment, visitor and access controls, security communications and information sharing.
• Manages facility security programs and security personnel in accordance with company and facility protocols.
• Ensures compliance with applicable security regulations.
• Participates in Security Risk/Vulnerability Assessments and implements security measures to mitigate vulnerabilities.
• Implements company Anti-Violence Workplace prevention policies.
• Supports corporate Business Conduct office by performing quality investigations.
• Interacts with law enforcement, Homeland Security, and other government agency officials.

Education, Experience and Skills

Minimum Qualifications

• Must have a High School Diploma or GED and 8 years of law enforcement, military security or industrial security experience OR Must have a Bachelor Degree in related field and 4 or more years of law enforcement, military security or industrial security experience.
• Must be fully competent in the practices associated with the protection of property and individuals. Demonstrate in-depth knowledge of the risk assessment process. Displays in-depth knowledge of security incident prevention strategies and management. Fully competent in the major security regulatory compliance programs. Demonstrates in-depth knowledge of investigative interviewing and fact-finding processes; conceptually understands Code of Conduct investigation processes
• Must be proficient in Microsoft 365: Word, Excel and Outlook.
• Must be able to wear appropriate PPE in the refinery, be able to physically perform all tasks in the field and take hair drug test and physical.
• Must have a valid driver’s license.
• Must be able to obtain a TWIC Card.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the US without the need for future VISA sponsorship.
• Travel Requirement is up to 10%.
• Must be able to work onsite schedules for the position which are 9/80 or 5/40 , on-call duty is required and support of TAR as needed. Core business hours: 7 AM - 4 PM.

Preferred Qualifications

• Security related Bachelors Degree is preferred.
