Job summary

SpaceX is seeking a Security Software Engineer for Starshield to influence the security of software across SpaceX products. You will design cryptographic services, build secure features for Starshield systems, and help secure factory processes while collaborating with multiple engineering teams.

The role emphasizes experience in security software, cryptography, and network/OS security, with opportunities to prototype and test new security improvements across an interplanetary-scale platform.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science or a STEM discipline or 2+ years of security software development experience.
• Experience with one or more software development languages (e.g., Python, C++, Go).
• Experience designing and implementing security solutions for OSes, distributed systems, or large-scale infrastructure.

Responsibilities

• Design and build security infrastructure for Starshield, including cryptographic services and other security-critical services.
• Develop security features for Starshield systems, including routers, dish, gateways, and satellites.
• Design security into factory processes and provide network services in support of this.
• Maintain existing production systems and improve security posture through implementation and guidance to other teams.
• Build prototypes and help identify, design, and test security improvements.
