Convergint Technologies LLC in Grand Rapids, MI is seeking a full-time Security Service Technician to join our team. You will respond to service calls, diagnose and repair electronic security and building automation systems, install projects, and ensure safety compliance.

You will work with a team of specialists, perform preventative maintenance, and document service activities. A background in security systems and strong troubleshooting skills are preferred.

Qualifications

• Developing exceptional customer focus and ability to work under pressure.
• Developing technical skills related to building automation, fire alarm and electronic security systems.
• Ability to develop basic programming skills and troubleshoot problems.
• Solid mechanical and electrical aptitude with hand and power tools.
• Proficient with MS Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel).

Responsabilités

• Respond to routine and non-routine customer service calls, maintenance calls and after-hours service calls.
• Diagnose, troubleshoot, repair and replace defective parts; install projects as necessary.
• Identify and resolve problems for various service calls and provide appropriate solutions.
• Complete accurate service reports for invoicing and cost tracking.
• Assist with installations, configurations and support of networked systems and equipment.

• Respond to routine and some non‑routine customer service calls, scheduled maintenance calls, and emergency and after‑hours service calls on a timely basis; diagnose, troubleshoot, repair, replace defective parts and debug systems for routine problems; install projects as necessary.
• Use solid troubleshooting skills to isolate and fix problems in malfunctioning equipment or software.
• Identifies and resolves problems for many types of service calls including emergency and after‑hours calls; analyzes repair requirements and provides customer with appropriate solutions; completes necessary repairs and replacements as needed; exercises judgment in selecting methods, techniques, and evaluation criterion for obtaining results.
• Completes accurate and detailed service reports for customer and Convergint in a timely manner to allow for accurate invoicing and job cost tracking.
• May provide custom systems integrations, detailed systems upgrade planning and execution, systems audits and consultation, and/or database management and manipulation.
• May install, configure, and support a variety of network systems and equipment for assigned projects.
• Executes all service calls in accordance with Federal, State and local regulations as well as company health and safety policies and procedures.
• Uses solid troubleshooting skills to isolate and fix problems in malfunctioning equipment or software.
• Communicates with and work with the other team members consistently to improve overall operations of the Convergint Technology Center, and company.
• Responsible for primarily performing preventative maintenance for installed systems that are typically less complex.
• Work closely with other specialists to cross‑train on servicing existing customers by responding to service calls, carrying out Customer Support Programs and small projects business.
• Scope of work includes technical assistance, systems checkout of new and existing installations, troubleshooting and maintenance and repair routines associated with installed Security and the installation of small or less complex projects.
• Performs other duties and responsibilities as requested or required.

What You’ll Need

1. Developing exceptional customer focus and ability to work under pressure; ability to maintain awareness of, and seek to meet the needs and wants of the customer without being prompted.
2. Developing technical skills and experience related to building automation systems, fire alarm systems, and/or electronic security systems.
3. Ability to develop basic programming skills and proven ability to troubleshoot problems and look for solutions.
4. Solid mechanical and electrical aptitude (e.g. works with a variety of hand and power tools such as drill, screwdriver, wire stripper, hacksaw, crimper).
5. Proficient computer skills including familiarity with MS Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel).

Requirements

1. Education: High School/GED or equivalent experience
2. Preferred Experience: (but not required): 1-3 years relevant
3. Brand Experience: Bosch, DMP, Honeywell
4. Experience in 1 or more of the following industries: electronic, fire alarm & life safety, and/or building automation
