Job summary

Johnson Controls International plc. is seeking a Security Technician to troubleshoot and service intrusion, IP CCTV, access control and fire alarm systems from multiple manufacturers.

You will work with customers to identify needs and explain the steps to restore full functionality. The role requires 5 years in low-voltage or security, knowledge of major platforms, a valid driver’s license, and the ability to obtain an Ohio Fire License within six months.

Qualifications

  • 5 years in low-voltage or security industry.
  • Knowledge of major security platforms (Bosch/Radionics, Honeywell, Firelite, Silent Knight, DMP, DSC).
  • Valid driver’s license with an excellent driving record.
  • Ability to pass background/identity checks.
  • Ability to obtain Ohio Fire License within 6 months.
  • Reading blueprints/schematics preferred.
  • Able to operate hand and power tools and ladders.
  • Safe operation of fleet vehicle and customer service skills.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot and service intrusion, IP CCTV, access control and fire alarm systems.
  • Identify customer needs and explain next steps for repair.
  • Inspect systems and provide written/digital reports.
  • Provide high level service to resolve building inefficiencies.
  • Offer solutions at time of service.
  • Locate and alleviate trouble with damaged equipment or wiring.
  • Readjust/repair/replace equipment and test operation.
  • Coordinate inspections with police/fire departments.
  • Assist other technicians with repairs and battery replacement.
  • Test system operation and establish connectivity to monitoring.
  • Complete forms accurately and prepare customer paperwork.
  • Provide quotes to support recommendations.

What you will do

A Johnson Controls Security Technician is a troubleshooter and service expert possessing knowledge and experience with intrusion, IP CCTV, access control and fire alarm systems from multiple manufacturers.

Candidate will possess strong verbal communication skills as they identify the needs of the customer and then inform them of next steps and processes to repair the system as needed to return full functionality.

Candidate will possess skills and experience to inspect said systems to ensure proper functionality and provide written or digital reports to customer and company as needed.

Provide our customers with the highest level of service to solve building inefficiencies and resolve service-related items.

As a trusted advisor to our customers, you will provide solutions and outcomes at the time of service

How you will do it
  • Locate and alleviate trouble with damaged equipment or wiring.
  • Readjust equipment, repair, or replace inoperative equipment and test for operation.
  • Coordinate inspections and/or installations with police, fire departments, or other appropriate agencies.
  • Performs repair and/or inspections of intrusion detection, IP CCTV, Access Control systems and fire alarms (if applicable).
  • Assists fellow service technicians with system repairs and completes minor repairs including battery replacement.
  • Tests operation of system to the customer monitoring center to properly establish service connectivity.
  • Complete all forms accurately and customer paperwork as required.
  • Provide recommendations and solutions to ensure facility is running efficiently to include upselling opportunities.
  • Provide quotes to support recommendations and solutions.
What we look for
  • 5 years in low-voltage or security industry.
  • Excellent general knowledge of major security manufacturer platforms including: Bosch/Radionics, Honeywell, Firelite, Silent Knight, DMP, DSC, etc.
  • Valid driver's license with an excellent driving record.
  • Ability to pass thorough background and identity checks.
  • Ability to obtain a State of Ohio Fire License within six months of employment with JCI.
  • Preferred Ability to read blueprints and schematic drawings.
  • Ability to operate hand and power tools.
  • Ability to unload ladder from fleet vehicle and climb ladder.
  • Ability to always operate fleet vehicle in a safe manner.
  • Ability to communicate and provide excellent customer service.

HIRING HOURLY RANGE: $26.06 - 34.66 Hourly rate to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.) This position includes a competitive benefits package. The posted salary range reflects the target compensation for this role.
