Job summary

Convergint is seeking a full-time Security Service Technician to service and support existing customers by responding to service calls, maintenance, and small projects. You will be part of a dynamic team that grows with Convergint and contributes to a culture built on integrity and excellence.

The position requires strong technical skills in fire alarm and electronic security systems, hands-on troubleshooting, and the ability to travel locally to sites with potential overnight stays.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 5-7 years servicing, integrating, and programming access control systems preferred.
• Excellent customer service and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to diagnose, repair, and install security systems and related hardware.

Responsibilities

• Respond to routine and some non-routine service calls and maintenance.
• Diagnose and repair defective parts and troubleshoot systems.
• Complete accurate service reports for invoicing and cost tracking.

• Act as “our customer’s best service provider” at all times thereby ensuring Convergint is the customer’s first choice for service.
• Respond to routine and some non-routine customer service calls, scheduled maintenance calls, and emergency and after-hours service calls on a timely basis; diagnose, troubleshoot, repair, replace defective parts and debug systems for routine problems; install projects as necessary.
• Complete accurate and detailed service reports for customer and Convergint in a timely manner to allow for accurate invoicing and job cost tracking.
• Use solid troubleshooting skills to isolate and fix problems in malfunctioning equipment or software.

What You’ll Need

• Exceptional customer focus and ability to work under pressure; ability to maintain awareness of and seek to meet the needs and wants of the customer without being prompted.
• Advanced technical skills and experience related to fire alarm systems, and/or electronic security systems.
• Advanced programming skills and proven ability to troubleshoot problems and look for solutions.
• Advanced mechanical and electrical aptitude (e.g. works with a variety of hand and power tools such as drill, screwdriver, wire stripper, hacksaw, crimper).
• Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple service needs simultaneously.
• Highly proficient computer skills including familiarity with MS Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel).
• To be a self-starter and work well with minimal supervision.
• A valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
• Ability to travel locally to jobsites on a regular basis. Minimal overnight travel may be required.

Requirements

Education: High School/GED or equivalent experience

Minimum Experience: 5-7 years servicing, integrating, and programming access control systems

Preferred Experience: (but not required):

• Relevant field service
• Access Control experience: AMAG / Lenel / Genetec / Software House - CCURE / S2
• Certifications - EST4, EST3X, EST3, EST2
