RWJBarnabas Health in New Jersey is seeking a Security Sergeant at Monmouth Medical Center for the night shift (11:00pm–7:30am). You will patrol the facility, monitor access, perform weapon screenings, and respond to emergencies, while delivering compassionate customer service to patients, visitors, and staff.

Required: High School Diploma or GED, NJ Driver’s License with proper registration, NJ SORA license, and ability to obtain de-escalation training within 90 days.

Competenze

• Valid New Jersey driver’s license with eligibility for the organization’s insurance carrier.
• Must hold a valid New Jersey SORA security officer license.
• Must obtain de-escalation certification within 90 days of hire.
• At least one year of customer service or security experience, or prior military service preferred.
• Ability to keyboard and perform data entry; strong verbal and written communication; bilingual skills a plus.

Security Officer Sergeant serves as an important part of the healthcare team by helping maintain a safe, secure, and welcoming environment for patients, visitors, and staff. This role combines vigilance, professionalism, and compassionate customer service to protect people, property, and the operations of the health system. The Sergeant is responsible for patrolling facilities, monitoring for potential security concerns, managing access control, conducting weapon screenings, responding to emergencies, and supporting crisis de-escalation efforts. Strong communication, sound judgment, professionalism, and the ability to interact respectfully with a diverse population are critical to success in this position.

As Security Officer, a typical day might include the following:

• Conducting indoor and outdoor patrols of the facility and surrounding areas to help maintain a safe and secure environment
• Monitoring entrances, access control systems, and facility activity while identifying and addressing potential safety or security concerns
• Providing professional and compassionate customer service to patients, visitors, physicians, and staff while enforcing facility policies and safety standards
• Performing weapon screenings and controlling access to designated areas in accordance with hospital procedures
• Responding to emergencies and security incidents, including participating in crisis intervention and de-escalation using certified training techniques
• Completing incident reports, data entry, and other administrative tasks using computer systems and Microsoft Office
• Communicating effectively with patients, visitors, staff, and emergency personnel to support a safe and respectful healthcare environment
• Patrolling the perimeter with a company vehicle

This is a Full-Time position - 11:00pm-7:30am

To be considered for this opportunity, you must have a High School Diploma or GED and a valid New Jersey Driver’s License, with eligibility to be covered by the organization’s insurance carrier. Candidates must have and maintain a valid New Jersey Security Officer Registration Act (SORA) security officer license. Applicants with an out-of-state driver’s license must transfer their license and vehicle registration to New Jersey within 60 days of hire. You must also be able to obtain certification in de-escalation training within 90 days of hire. At least one year of customer service or security experience, or prior military service, is preferred. Experience with keyboarding, data entry, Microsoft Office, and strong verbal and written communication skills is preferred. Bilingual language skills are a plus, depending on facility needs.
