Job summary

The King County Sheriff's Office invites internal applicants for the Lead Security Screener position. This Civil Service promotional opportunity is open only to current KCSO employees who have successfully completed probation as a Security Screener.

The Lead Screener will supervise staff, coordinate schedules, and maintain post logs, reporting to the Sergeant and occasionally performing Screener duties. Candidates must pass a background check and fingerprinting as part of the recruitment

Qualifications

• Must demonstrate leadership and direction to Screeners.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to build positive working relationships with staff and the public.
• Experience with diverse individuals and cultures.
• Customer service, training, and interpersonal skills.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
• Ability to perform basic timekeeping in software.

Responsibilities

• Lead and direct assigned staff; prioritize daily work and assignments.
• Develop and maintain daily and monthly screener schedules.
• Review attendance requests to meet scheduling needs.
• Maintain daily post logs and magnetometer test logs.
• Schedule training and tests for new Screeners.
• Monitor Screeners to ensure standards.
• Perform magnetometer tests.
• Work post as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
