Job summary

Goodwill NYNJ is seeking a vigilant Security Guard to maintain a safe, secure environment for participants, staff, and visitors across facilities in New York. You will monitor premises, de-escalate conflicts, and promptly report incidents to management, while upholding confidentiality and safety procedures.

Qualified applicants will have a high school diploma, basic computer skills (Word), strong interpersonal abilities, and a valid Fire Guard certificate.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required or preferred.
• Basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Word.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to remain calm and effectively defuse and resolve conflict.
• Team-oriented, flexible, and energetic approach to work.
• Valid Fire Guard certificate required.

Responsibilities

• Ensure the safety and security of the program premises at all times
• Monitor daily activities of participants and staff to promote a safe and orderly environment
• De-escalate and mediate conflicts between staff and/or participants as needed
• Document and report all incidents, including staff and participant conflicts, in a timely manner
• Supervise designated areas when participants are awaiting police or paramedic assistance
• Serve as Fire Guard when assigned; ensure safe evacuation of all individuals in the event of a fire
• Maintain strict confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA guidelines on a daily basis
• Keep the immediate supervisor informed of activities, outcomes, and any potential issues; recommend corrective actions when necessary
• Uphold confidentiality when handling organizational, program, staff, participant, and volunteer information
• Perform additional duties as assigned by management
