Amazon Shipyard operates a device lab in Seattle dedicated to supporting our Global Real Estate and Information Security functions. The Security Review Support Engineer will lead technical and security reviews for building devices and participate in company-wide user groups to exchange support information, procedures, and best practices. Responsibilities include installing new devices, testing, troubleshooting, vendor communication, and risk assessment, with a focus on device cybersecurity. You will be responsible for documenting systems, security findings, and controls.

Key job responsibilities

1. Design, set up, and maintain test fixtures to verify software on hardware
2. Troubleshoot hardware, software, and network issues
3. Contribute to engineering efforts from design to implementation, addressing technical challenges to improve developer and engineering productivity, especially for rapid iteration
4. Promote best practices in secure system design
5. Conduct security reviews for hardware including servers and devices
6. Perform penetration testing and vulnerability research
7. Engage in threat modeling

A day in the life

Collaborate with Global Real Estate Business and Amazon Security to ensure secure procurement and implementation of device systems. Daily tasks may include:

• Meeting with stakeholders to understand requirements
• Working with vendors on security protections
• Setting up test device systems
• Communicating risks with security partners
• Identifying emerging threat vectors in Operational Technology

About the team

The GREF Tech team, part of Finance Automation, develops services and tools to support Amazon's global facilities in over 60 countries. We aim to create technology that simplifies real estate management, including building systems with IoT expertise supporting various domains like space planning, safety, sustainability, and building management systems.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

• 4+ years of software development or technical support experience
• Experience scripting in modern programming languages
• Experience troubleshooting and debugging technical systems
• Experience in agile/scrum workflows
• Experience documenting findings
• Experience conducting security reviews

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Knowledge of distributed and enterprise applications
• Knowledge of UNIX/Linux systems
• Experience analyzing RESTful web API calls
• Experience with OT, ICS, IoT, IIoT, BMS, SCADA, or PLCs
