Role Description

The Security Resource Officer is a full-time, on-site role based within Dayton Public Schools in the Dayton Metropolitan Area. This position is responsible for maintaining a safe and secure environment for students, staff, and visitors across school facilities. Day-to-day tasks include monitoring entrances and common areas, responding to safety concerns, and enforcing district policies and procedures. The Security Resource Officer collaborates with administrators, educators, and local safety partners to prevent and de-escalate incidents, support emergency response plans, and promote a positive school climate. The role also involves documenting incidents, participating in safety drills and training, and serving as a professional, approachable presence for the school community.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated skills in campus safety, incident prevention, and emergency response within an educational or public setting.
• Ability to observe, assess, and respond calmly to security concerns, including conflict de-escalation and crisis management.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills for working with students, families, staff, and community partners in a respectful and culturally responsive manner.
• Capability to follow district policies, maintain accurate records, and complete clear written incident reports.
• Physical ability to stand, walk, and patrol school grounds for extended periods and respond quickly to incidents.
• High school diploma or equivalent required; relevant training or certification in security, law enforcement, or public safety is preferred.
• Experience in a school, youth-focused, or community-based environment is beneficial.
