Overview
Convergint is looking for a full-time, enthusiastic, results-driven and forward-thinking Security Technician to join our culture. You will install, program, start up/check out, certify, and train customers on assigned projects, including small to large projects varying in complexity. As a Security Technician, you are part of a dynamic team that supports growth for both you and Convergint.

What You’ll Do with Our Training and Your Experience

- Install, program, test, repair, and service a variety of non-routine systems and equipment, including security, fire alarm & life safety, and/or building automation. Serve as the key interface for technical support and customer training and escalate only the most complex issues.
- Read basic blueprints, schematics, manuals, and specifications to determine installation procedures; interpret manuals and wiring diagrams and perform repairs using electronics knowledge and standard testing instruments.
- Operate systems to demonstrate equipment, commission new systems, analyze performance and identify malfunctions. Write non-routine programs for systems as needed.
- Act as the customer\'s best service provider at all times to ensure Convergint Technologies is the first choice for service.
- Consult with engineering personnel to resolve unusual problems in system operation, maintenance, and warranty work.
- Advise management regarding customer satisfaction, product performance, installation techniques and standards, and suggestions for product improvements when appropriate.
- Execute the technical aspects of multiple projects with varying timelines and budgets, including programming, graphics development, start-up, certification testing, customer training, close-out documentation, and ongoing technical support.
- Identify potential project risks, communicate with the appropriate parties, and assist in developing and implementing strategies to minimize impact and meet cost and schedule targets.
- Work closely with the Project Manager and/or Operations Manager to coordinate projects; recommend improvements in quality, scope adjustments, and ways to continuously improve customer satisfaction.
- Mentor less experienced staff using technical knowledge, and supervise testing, tuning, and adjustment of equipment to optimize performance.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as requested or required.
What You\’ll Need
- Exceptional customer focus and ability to work under pressure; ability to anticipate and meet customer needs without prompting.
- Solid technical skills and experience with fire alarm systems and/or electronic security systems.
- Solid programming skills with proven ability to troubleshoot and resolve problems.
- Self-starter with ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Solid mechanical and electrical aptitude, ability to read blueprints and drawings, and solid math skills (may include area, velocity, resistance, voltage).
- Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
- Solid organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple projects.
- Advanced computer skills, including MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel) and related applications.
- Valid driver\'s license with a clean driving record.
- Ability to travel locally to jobsites regularly; minimal overnight travel may be required.

Requirements
Education: High School/GED or equivalent experience
Minimum Experience: 3–5 years relevant
Preferred Experience: (but not required):
- Relevant field service
- Certifications: Product-specific certifications, Industry-specific certifications and/or licenses, Software House, Lenel, Genetec, Avigilon, AMAG, Milestone or ONSSI, AXIS
