Job summary

Convergint is seeking a full-time Security Technician to install, program, start‑up, certify, and train on Fire, Security, and Building Automation projects across diverse complexity in Texas. You will deliver projects on time and within budget while serving as the primary technical liaison to customers.

You may mentor less‑experienced staff, collaborate with engineering and project teams, and uphold Convergint’s culture of world‑class service and safety.

Responsibilities

  • Installs, programs, tests, repairs, and services a substantial variety of systems and equipment which may include security, fire alarm & life safety, and/or building automation. Acts as the key interface for the provision of technical support and training for the customer and is accountable for maximizing customer satisfaction.
  • Reads complex blueprints, schematics, manuals, and other specifications to determine installation requirements; interprets manuals, schematics, and wiring diagrams; repairs equipment using knowledge of electronics and advanced test instruments and hand tools.
  • Operates systems to demonstrate equipment, commissions new systems, analyzes performance and identifies malfunctions. Writes non-routine programs of substantial variety and complexity for systems.
  • Acts as the customer’s best service provider at all times, ensuring Convergint is the customer’s first choice for service. Takes ownership of onsite projects including safety, quality and performance.
  • Provides custom systems integrations, detailed systems upgrade planning and execution, systems audits and consultation, and/or database management and manipulation. Installs, configures, and supports a variety of network systems and equipment for assigned projects.
  • Consults with engineering personnel to resolve unusual system operation, maintenance and warranty work.
  • Performs all work in accordance with Federal, State and local regulations as well as company health and safety policies and procedures. Uses solid troubleshooting skills to isolate and fix problems in malfunctioning equipment or software.
  • Advises management regarding customer satisfaction, product performance, installation techniques and standards and suggests improvements. Participates or assists with developing customer presentations or similar new business development activities.
  • Executes all technical aspects of multiple projects with varying timelines and budgets, including preparation of submittals, shop drawings, training documentation, programming, graphics development, start‑up, certification testing, customer training, close‑out documentation, and ongoing technical support.
  • Identifies potential project risks, communicates to appropriate parties and assists in implementing strategies to minimize impact and control deviations from estimated costs and deadlines.
  • Works closely with the Project Manager and/or Operations Manager, assists in overall coordination of specific projects, supervises subcontractors and installation work, recommends improvements in quality, scope and scope changes, and identifies ways to improve customer satisfaction.
  • Mentors and trains less‑experienced staff. Supervises testing, tuning, and adjusting equipment to obtain optimum performance. Provides performance feedback to management.
