PURPOSE: Provide unparalleled service related to emergency response, protection of life and property, loss prevention and guest relations. Support newly hired Patrol Officers through field training and prepare them to perform their role independently.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Train newly hired officers in accordance with established MOA Security procedures and guidelines.
- Maintain documentation of all training activities and tests for assigned officer-in-training (OIT).
- Guide OIT through all five phases of the MOA Security field training program in a timely manner.
- Patrol Mall of America common and restricted areas by foot or vehicle as assigned.
- Deter unwanted behavior by maintaining a highly visible patrol presence.
- Assist guests with questions including giving directions and locating lost people or vehicles.
- Provide excellent guest service and maintain a professional, friendly manner in challenging situations.
- Manage high stress, life threatening emergencies or incident calls as directed, including performing Basic Life Saving procedures, emergency medical assistance, and assisting with EMT personnel.
- Appropriately respond to emergency calls including medical emergencies, combative or disorderly guests, intoxicated persons, addressing persons committing illegal acts, and motor vehicle accidents.
- Arrest disorderly and/or combative guests when necessary.
- Maintain a high level of confidentiality, following MOA policy for sharing information when needed.
- Adapt to varying circumstances, prioritizing the safety team members, guests, and MOA property.
- Write detailed and accurate reports as required, including incident, accident or personal injury reports.
- Utilize radio for clear and detailed communication with dispatch, supervisors, and other relevant staff.
- Request and assist Police, Fire or EMS services as necessary.
- Conduct periodic safety and fire equipment inspections, issue parking violation tickets, conduct traffic direction as assigned.
- Deescalate interactions when dealing with upset guests.
- Assist with tenant loss prevention programs as directed.
- Monitor safety awareness practices among Mall staff and tenants and promptly identify and report any hazardous conditions according to procedure.
- Regularly carry equipment including handcuffs, pepper spray and tactical baton, officers must carry a conducted electrical weapon (CEW).
- Work a flexible schedule, including weekends, holidays, special events, high volume days, mandatory overtime, and short notice special events.
- Additional duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Must possess a valid driver's license.
- Successful completion of a rigorous 120 hour in-house physical and skills training program.
- Officers must withstand a full five-second exposure to a CEW and exposure to pepper spray.
- Prior CPR and First Aid training preferred and able to perform CPR on all body types.
- Strong listening and written and verbal communication skills.
- Able to remain calm in stressful situations, utilizing rational thinking and decision making.
- Maintain an adequate level of physical fitness to perform duties of position effectively
- Training as a First Responder, EMT, or Paramedic preferred.
- Military or law enforcement experience preferred.
- At least three months MOA security experience, preferred.
- Training and leadership experience preferred.
- Basic knowledge of state and local law statutes preferred.
PHYSICAL JOB REQUIREMENTS:
While performing the duties of this job, the officer will continuously be required to talk and listen to guests to understand their needs and communicate a solution. Officer must possess a level of hearing that will continuously allow them to be aware of their surroundings and recognize when a guest needs their attention. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Officers are required to be able to tolerate multiple sensory stimuli at once while performing their duties. These stimuli may include: loud auditory/noise, smells/olfactory, bright lights, colors, motion, and other visual and tactile stimuli.

Starting pay:
$19.72 - $24.65
