Job summary

Cognizant is seeking an Automation / Orchestration / Security Engineer to design, build, and maintain security automation and orchestration solutions to improve security operations, reduce manual effort, and enhance response efficiency. The role works with Security Operations, Incident Response, IT, and Cloud/Platform teams to integrate tools, automate workflows, and implement scalable security processes.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of Automation/ Security Engineering experience.
• Strong programming/scripting experience (Python preferred).
• Experience with automation/orchestration platforms (Ansible, Itential, Aria).
• Hands-on with REST APIs, JSON, OAuth2, tokens and mutual TLS.
• Knowledge of SIEM, IAM, cloud security fundamentals, and ITSM tools.

Responsibilities

• Design and deliver security automation to improve response times.
• Develop and maintain SOAR playbooks for triage, containment, remediation.
• Build integrations with SIEM, EDR/XDR, IAM, vulnerability management, ticketing and cloud security.
• Create reusable automation components with logging and observability.
• Automate procedures with SOC/IR runbooks and approval gates.
• Implement governance controls like RBAC and audit logging.
• Collaborate to automate security controls, policy-as-code, and drift remediation.
• Support incident response with automation for evidence collection and containment.
• Ensure secure coding practices and proper safeguarding of workflows.
• Document runbooks, SOPs, and knowledge transfer materials.
