Job summary

The Illinois Secretary of State's Office is seeking an Information Systems Technician II - Security Operations in Springfield, IL. This role maintains security-focused solutions, both on-premises and SaaS, providing installation, configuration, training, and support to ensure secure operations.

The ideal candidate will have at least one year of college in computer science or 1.5 years of technical systems experience, strong communication skills, and the ability to travel as needed; salary ranges

Qualifications

Requires knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to the completion of 1 year of college, with coursework in the computer science field.
Requires the ability to travel and possession of a valid Illinois driver’s license as required by individual positions within the class.
Requires the ability to lift, carry, and push/pull 0 – 50lbs.
Requires sufficient oral and written communication skills for effective engagement with colleagues and internal users/customers.

Responsibilities

Assists in the setup, configuration and provides routine maintenance of security systems.
Maintains documentation of information systems security controls.
Performs routine system testing against security risks.
Completes necessary education, training and certifications to stay abreast of latest technologies affecting Illinois Secretary of State information security.
Travels as necessary for education and meetings.
Performs other duties as required or assigned.
