The position oversees contract-security coverage, post assignments, audits, performance, staffing, badging, and access control.Daily work also includes emergency-response coordination, escalation, investigations, visitor engagement, VIP visits, law-enforcement partnerships, compliance, reporting, staffing models, budget planning, and employee relations. The manager can act for the Chief Security Officer during emergencies and special events.## Qualifications For A Large-Facility Security LeaderThe position requires a bachelor's degree in business, law, criminal justice, management, or a related field. An advanced degree is preferred, and Certified Protection Professional board certification or equivalent education is mandatory.At least 10 years of relevant experience must include investigations, large-facility protection, vulnerability assessments, emergency response, and event security. A visitor-safety framework such as the museum facilities standards addresses protection for people, collections, objects, and facilities.## Physical Demands And Flexible CoverageThe position requires an active, visible guest-service presence throughout museum locations. A shift can include extended standing and walking, movement through galleries and outdoor spaces, work with large groups during peak attendance, and communication by telephone and two-way radio.The manager must also bend, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, climb stairs, and occasionally lift, carry, push, or pull up to 25 pounds.
