Job summary

Island is seeking a Security Operations Engineer to own the day-to-day operation and continuous improvement of our vulnerability and compliance scanning program. You will strengthen Island’s security posture across commercial and FedRAMP environments, partnering with compliance and engineering teams to scale tooling and processes.

Qualifications

• 1–3 years of security operations experience or equivalent hands-on work
• Hands‑on familiarity with vulnerability scanning tools (one or more: Burp Suite, Nessus, Tenable)
• Basic understanding of AWS cloud infrastructure and container environments (Kubernetes, Docker)
• Exposure to FedRAMP, NIST 800-53, or similar frameworks is a strong plus
• Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple findings and workstreams
• Scripting (Python, Bash) is a plus
• Clear written and verbal communication in a distributed team environment

Responsibilities

• Operate vulnerability scanning tools across web apps, infrastructure, and containers
• Run scans on cadence and on-demand for releases and audits
• Support FedRAMP continuous monitoring activities across GovCloud environments
• Assist with evidence collection and mapping to NIST 800-53 controls
• Triages findings, filters false positives, and tracks remediation in Jira
• Collaborate with engineering to meet SLAs and remediation timelines
• Produce reports and artifacts for internal stakeholders and external auditors
• Maintain the compliance evidence repository
• Improve scanning workflows through automation and scheduling
• Work with SecOps Lead in sprint planning and cross-functional initiatives
