Job summary

AdventHealth in Orlando, Florida is seeking a Security Officer to monitor CCTV systems, log incidents, and coordinate with field responders in routine and emergency events. You will use CAD and mass notification to notify leadership of significant events and support fire safety system monitoring.

This PRN Day shift role requires reading and writing English, strong security awareness, confidentiality, and excellent customer service through telephone and radio etiquette.

Qualifications

• Ability to maintain composure and accuracy in a fast-paced environment.
• Maintains confidentiality in all patient/visitor/employee matters.
• Strong customer service and communication via telephone/radio etiquette.
• Must read/write/speak English proficiently.
• Basic computer skills and MS Office knowledge.
• Knowledge of CCTV, access control, duress, infant protection systems preferred.

Responsibilities

• Monitor CCTV and relay information to field responders as per procedures.
• Maintain logs of deceased patients and arrange releases.
• Answer emergency and non-emergency calls for the security operations center.
• Monitor fire safety systems and dispatch resources when alarms activate.
• Document calls for service using CAD software.

Job Description:

Utilizes Closed Circuit TV (CCTV) systems to monitor cameras and relay observed information to field responders per department procedures. Maintains logs of deceased patients and receives information regarding arrangements for the release of deceased patients. Utilizes phone and mass notification systems to notify stakeholders and leadership of significant events. Other duties as assigned. Answers emergency and non-emergency telephone calls for the security operations center. Monitors fire safety systems and dispatches appropriate resources when fire alarms are activated. Performs facility electronic lockdown as directed by department policy. Communicates and documents security officer activities for routine patrols, posting, and assignment of calls for service. Monitors and dispatches response to infant abduction alarms, medical gas alarms, and access control alarms. Documents calls for service utilizing Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) software.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Ability to maintain composure and ensure accuracy in assigning and documenting tasks in a fast-paced environment that includes frequent interruptions, changes in priorities, and under stressful circumstances [Required]
• High security awareness [Required]
• Ability to maintain confidentiality in all matters pertaining to patients, visitors, and/or employees [Required]
• Communications skills must focus on customer service by maintaining proper telephone and radio etiquette [Required]
• Must be able to read, write, speak, and have good comprehension of conversational English [Required]
• Basic computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office [Required]
• Knowledge of security and fire systems, software and technology including CCTV, Access Control, Duress, Infant Protection, Computer Aided Dispatching, and Physical Security Information Management systems [Preferred]

Education:

• High School Grad or Equiv [Required]

Field of Study:

• N/A

Work Experience:

• Knowledge and experience in the National Incident Management System (NIMS) and Hospital Incident Command System (HICS) [Preferred]
• Prior dispatching experience in healthcare security, law enforcement, or fire/emergency medical services [Preferred]
