Job summary

Connecticut OnLine Computer Center (COCC) is seeking a SOC Analyst I to join our Security Operations Center and monitor, detect, and respond to security events across internal and client environments. This hands-on role offers hybrid schedules, on-going training, and opportunities to work with modern security technologies alongside peers and senior analysts in a 24x7 SOC.

You will triage incidents, review logs, and collaborate on threat research while growing your skills toward advanced SOC

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, Information Security, Information Technology, or related field.
• Prior SOC or security monitoring experience.
• Experience investigating events and incidents within a SIEM.
• Familiarity with SIEM technology or related security tools.
• Experience working in Linux and Windows environments.
• Security certifications such as Security+, GSEC, or CySA+ preferred.

Responsibilities

• Monitor security alerts and events across internal and client environments.
• Triage, investigate, and respond to security incidents.
• Review logs and analyze events using SIEM and monitoring tools.
• Document incidents and produce reports for internal and client teams.
• Escalate incidents to senior analysts as needed.
• Support client service deployments and configuration changes.
• Assist with threat research and basic threat hunting.
• Tune detections and review false positives.
• Follow runbooks to ensure consistent response.
• Collaborate with peers and management on security improvements.

What You’ll do...

• Monitor security alerts, detections, and events across internal and client environments
• Perform triage, investigation, and initial response actions for security incidents
• Review logs and analyze security events using SIEM and monitoring tools
• Document incidents and produce internal and client facing reports
• Escalate incidents to senior analysts when appropriate
• Support client service deployments and configuration changes
• Participate in threat research and basic threat hunting activities
• Assist with detection tuning and false positive review
• Follow established procedures and runbooks to ensure consistent response
• Support client requests related to security services and configurations
• Participate in maintenance windows and security improvement initiatives
• Collaborate with peers and management on cybersecurity operations and improvements

What You’ll bring...

• A foundational background in cybersecurity or information security
• Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, Information Security, Information Technology, or related experience preferred but will consider relevant work experience and/or certifications
• Prior SOC or security monitoring experience
• Experience investigating events and incidents within a SIEM
• Familiarity with SIEM technology or related security tools
• Experience working with logs, monitoring tools, and security workflows
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to explain technical findings in clear, detailed language
• Experience working in both Linux and Windows environments
• Understanding of vulnerability management and log monitoring concepts
• Security certifications such as Security+, GSEC, or CySA+ preferred
• Scripting or coding experience is a plus

Salary range for this role is $67,392-$101,192K per year
