Job summary

Penn Medicine seeks a Security Operations Center dispatcher to manage radio communications, monitor alarms, and coordinate responses for hospital security events. The role supports patient and staff safety across the facility during scheduled night shifts.

Responsibilities include operating CAD and video surveillance, escalating to local responders when needed, and guiding visitors and staff. Requires a HS Diploma and relevant EMS/telecommunicator credentials; benefits include tuition support

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Experience in EMS, emergency dispatching, police/fire, or security preferred.
  • Recognized Telecommunicator Course or EMT certification is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Operate a radio dispatch center for inbound/outbound communications.
  • Coordinate and escalate responses to emergency responders as needed.
  • Monitor access control and burglar alarms to protect staff and patients.
  • Oversee video surveillance monitoring and incident reporting tools.
  • Provide directions to hospital and coordinate external resources until unified command.

Schedule: WEEK 1: Fri Sat and Sun 11 pm - 7 am and WEEK 2: Fri 11pm - 7 am
Summary:
  • Responsible for functioning as the dispatcher of the Security Operations Center for LG Health. The Security Operations Center SOC serves as a central hub for receiving security assistance calls Dispatches and tracks Hospital Security Officers on Emergent and non-emergent Events.
Responsibilities:
  • Operates a radio dispatch center for incoming and outgoing communications.
  • Elevates response to local emergency responders as necessary if the incident exceeds internal capabilities in alignment with HICS standards .
  • Monitors access control operations. Monitors burglar alarms.
  • Provides staff protection and patient elopement monitoring.
  • Oversees a video surveillance center for camera monitoring.
  • The SOC is responsible for managing computer-aided dispatching CAD and incident reporting applications.
  • Follows Emergency Procedures Guidelines Code
  • K, H, Blue, Grey, Condition 8, red, yellow, green, amber, and Black .
  • Provides directions to LGH for patients and visitors.
  • Responsible for License plate and employee parking sticker information look up. Coordinates requests for county emergency resources to LGH.
  • When external resources are provided, the LGH SOC's role is to bridge communications with the facility operations teams and external ops teams until a unified command is otherwise established.
Education or Equivalent Experience:
  • H.S. Diploma/GED (Required)
  • Education Specialization: Equivalent Experience:
  • And 1+ years Experience in EMS, Emergency Dispatching, Police Fire or Security or 1 year working with policy, hospital and/or community transport
  • Recognized Telecommunicator Course or EMT
