Guardian Security Services is seeking night-shift Security Officers in Evanston from 8:00 PM to 6:00 AM, with pay at $19.25 per hour. Positions available for part-time and full-time roles; retirees welcome.

Responsibilities

Security Officers needed in Evanston from 8:00 pm to 6:00 am at $19.25 per hour

We're currently hiring for part-time and full-time security positions, and retirees are welcome! The work location is easily accessible by public transportation and only a short walk from the Purple Line and Bus Station, and on-site parking is also available for those who drive. This position is indoors and your workspace is comfortable and climate controlled. The scheduled shift time is 8:00 PM to 6:00 AM, and your shift ends promptly at 6:00 am. You don't have to worry about a late relief or holding over.

This role focuses on maintaining a safe, welcoming, and well‑monitored environment, ensuring policy compliance, and responding promptly to any safety concerns or unusual activity. Your Responsibilities

• Access monitoring — Monitor entry points and verify authorized entry to the property.
• Safety response — Address safety concerns promptly, disturbances, or unusual behavior.
• Incident documentation — Complete accurate incident reports for any notable events, policy violations, or emergencies.
• Customer service — Provide courteous assistance and support a welcoming community atmosphere.
• Policy enforcement — Ensure compliance with community standards.
• Emergency coordination — Assist with fire alarms, medical situations, or police activity by following established protocols.
• Visibility and deterrence — Maintain a strong security presence to deter misconduct and promote safety.
• Communication with supervisors — Report significant issues to site leadership promptly and maintain clear communication throughout the shift.

Requirements

• Strong attention to detail and excellent observation skills
• Ability to remain calm and composed in all situations.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills
• Possess a High School Diploma/GED
• Must have a valid Permanent Employee Registration Card (PERC) or willing to apply for one.
• Must have a 20-hour training certificate or complete within in thirty (30) days of employment.
• Must have 21 years of age or older.
• Candidates who do not currently hold valid CPR and AED certification must complete the required training as part of their onboarding.
• All applicants must complete a pre-employment screening process to include drug screening.
• Maintain an impeccable image and adhere to our professional grooming standards.
• Must have mature demeanor, personality and attitude.
• Must possess strong customer service skills, public relation skills and the ability to interact well with people of diverse cultures and backgrounds.
• Possess strong communication skills, both verbally, written and non-verbal.
• Must maintain a working telephone at all times.
