Allied Universal is hiring a part-time Security Officer (Unarmed Patrol) in Portsmouth, VA. You will monitor and protect a government transportation site, perform routine rounds, maintain a visible security presence, and deliver excellent customer service while adhering to site procedures.

Qualifications

• TSA-issued TWIC required.
• Guard Card/License preferred.
• 18+ for unarmed roles; 21+ for armed roles.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Background checks as per federal/state/local laws.
• Drug screen as permitted by law.
• Licensing requirements vary by state/local laws.
• Driver’s license required for driving positions only.

Responsibilities

• Provide customer service to visitors, employees, contractors, and/or vendors by carrying out security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and when appropriate, emergency response activities at a maritime government location.
• Conduct regular and random unarmed patrols of docks, terminals, buildings, access points, parking areas, and perimeter areas, reporting unusual conditions or security-related concerns.
• Monitor access to restricted areas by verifying credentials, observing vehicle and pedestrian activity, and following established visitor and contractor entry procedures.
• Respond to incidents, alarms, and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, notifying appropriate personnel and documenting activities according to site procedures.
• Complete patrol logs, incident reports, and other required documentation while maintaining professional communication with site personnel and public-facing stakeholders.

What You'll Do:

Minimum Requirements:

• Possess a TSA-issued TWIC.
• A Guard Card/License is preferred.
• Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
• Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
• Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
• Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
• A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.
