Job summary

Allied Universal in Danville, VA seeks an Unarmed Security Officer for Patrol Access Control at a manufacturing and industrial location.

You will conduct routine patrols, monitor access points, verify visitor credentials, and respond calmly to alarms and incidents while delivering professional customer service.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of combined law enforcement, military, or security‑related experience, or a college degree.
• Guard Card or license preferred.
• Comfort using a computer or tablet preferred.
• Access control or badge experience preferred.
• Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ for armed roles.
• Background check required by law.
• Drug screen required where permitted by law.

Responsibilities

• Provide customer service to clients, employees, contractors and visitors by carrying out security procedures, access protocols, and emergency response activities at a manufacturing site.
• Conduct regular and random unarmed patrols of production areas, warehouses, offices, parking areas and facility perimeter to deter unauthorized activity.
• Monitor access points and verify visitor, contractor, and delivery credentials per site policy; document entries, exits and unusual activity.
• Respond to incidents, alarms and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner and follow reporting/escalation procedures.
• Prepare clear, accurate activity reports and communicate observations to site contacts and Allied Universal leadership.

What You'll Do:

• Provide customer service to clients, employees, contractors, and visitors by carrying out site-specific security-related procedures, access protocols, and emergency response activities at a manufacturing and industrial location.
• Conduct regular and random unarmed patrols of production areas, warehouses, offices, parking areas, and the facility perimeter to help deter unauthorized activity and identify potential concerns.
• Monitor access points and verify visitor, contractor, and delivery credentials in accordance with site policies; document entries, exits, and unusual activity.
• Respond to incidents, alarms, and critical situations in a calm, problem‑solving manner, following established reporting and escalation procedures.
• Prepare clear, accurate activity reports and communicate observations, incidents, and maintenance‑related concerns to appropriate site contacts and Allied Universal leadership.

Minimum Requirements:

• Possess 3+ years of combined law enforcement, military, or security‑related experience, or a college degree.
• Alarm panel experience is preferred.
• Comfort using a computer or tablet is preferred.
• A Guard Card or license is preferred.
• Access control or badge experience is preferred.
• Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
• Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
• Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
• Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
• A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.
