Job Description

As a Security Officer Transitional Housing Control Access Patrol in Brooklyn, NY, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Shelter, and more. As an unarmed Patrol Officer supporting a shelter setting, you will monitor assigned areas, conduct routine patrols, and maintain a visible presence to help deter incidents. You will assist with access control, communicate professionally with residents, visitors, and staff, and contribute to a welcoming environment. What You’ll Do

• Provide customer service to residents, visitors, staff, and/or service providers by carrying out security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and emergency response activities as appropriate within a shelter setting.
• Respond to incidents, resident concerns, and critical situations in a calm, respectful, problem-solving manner, following established reporting and escalation procedures.
• Conduct regular and random unarmed patrols throughout the facility, surrounding grounds, entrances, and perimeter to help deter unauthorized activity and identify security-related concerns.
• Monitor access points, verify authorized entry as directed by site procedures, and document visitor activity, incidents, and unusual conditions in required reports.
• Support a respectful, trauma-informed environment by maintaining professional communication, observing resident privacy, and coordinating with on-site staff and emergency responders when needed.

Minimum Requirements

• Have at least one year of security-related experience.
• A guard card or license is preferred.
• A state, county, or city-issued security-related license is preferred.
• Customer service experience is preferred.
• Access control and badge experience is preferred.
• Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
• Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
• Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
• Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
• A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.
