Job description

Responsibilities

The Security Officer is expected to provide a safe and secure environment for all individuals entering Dignity Health properties, ensuring the physical security of buildings and grounds. The officer shall demonstrate behavior aligned with Dignity Health's core values and humankindness, supporting the organization’s strategic plan and quality/process improvement activities. Responsibilities include:

  • Protecting staff, patients, and visitors by responding promptly to assistance calls, including incidents involving violent or unruly individuals, crimes in progress, or emergency codes.
  • Patrolling the facility and grounds by foot or vehicle; monitoring security alarms; dispatching officers to locations as needed; and reporting unsafe conditions.
  • Understanding emergency procedures, equipment, and supplies; reporting HIPAA breaches; investigating security breaches; conducting follow-up investigations; and writing incident reports.
Qualifications
  • At least six (6) months of experience as a security officer in a hospital or healthcare setting, prior law enforcement or military service; or one (1) year of security officer experience.
  • High school diploma or equivalent; or three (3) years of security officer experience.
  • Ability to speak and write English clearly; proficient in de-escalation techniques.
  • American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 90 days of employment.
  • Preferred: IAHSS Basic Training for Healthcare Security Officers within 90 days.

The compensation range is estimated at $19.30 to $26.54 per hour, based on skills, experience, and location. Exact pay may vary.
