Position Overview

The Security Officer Supervisor is responsible for the strategic oversight and day-to-day management of our operational support functions. This role entails:

  • Supervise security officers— assign posts, shifts, patrol areas, and daily responsibilities.
  • Monitor staff performance— ensure officers are alert, professional, properly uniformed, and following procedures.
  • Conduct inspections— check entrances, exits, restricted areas, equipment, and patrol routes.
  • Respond to incidents— take command during thefts, disturbances, emergencies, accidents, fires, or other security situations.
  • Write and review reports— ensure accurate incident, daily activity, and shift reports are completed.
  • Enforce security policies— make sure employees, visitors, and contractors follow site rules..
  • Train and coach officers— provide orientation, refresher training, and guidance on emergency procedures.
  • Communicate with management and clients— report security concerns, incidents, staffing issues, and recommendations.
  • Coordinate with police/fire/EMSwhen an emergency requires outside assistance.
  • Handle scheduling and staffing— manage call-outs, overtime, post coverage, and shift changes.
  • Maintain security equipment— report problems with cameras, radios, alarms, access-control systems, and other equipment.
  • Conduct investigationsinto security violations, complaints, suspicious activity, or workplace incidents.
  • Maintain confidentialityregarding sensitive information, security procedures, and incidents.
  • Prepare shift briefingsand ensure important information is passed from one shift to the next.
  • Promote a safe and professional environmentfor employees, visitors, customers, and the property.

The Supervisor works closely with the Operations Team, Human Resources, Scheduling Department, and Executive Leadership to ensure personnel have the vehicles, equipment, and logistical support necessary to provide exceptional service while maintaining compliance, safety, and operational readiness.

This position requires strong leadership, exceptional organizational skills, and the ability to respond quickly to changing operational needs in a fast-paced security environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Operational Support
  • Oversees daily security operations to ensure effective protection of personnel, property, and assets.
  • Coordinates security coverage, post assignments, patrols, access control, and response to security incidents.
  • Responds to emergencies, alarms, disturbances, and other security-related situations.
  • Conducts routine security inspections and identifies potential risks or vulnerabilities.
  • Ensures security equipment, communication systems, surveillance systems, and other resources are operational.
  • Provides operational support to management and assists with implementing security procedures and site-specific requirements.
Supervision & Leadership
  • Supervises, directs, and supports Security Officers during assigned shifts.
  • Assigns posts and responsibilities based on operational needs and staffing requirements.
  • Provides training, coaching, guidance, and performance feedback to security personnel.
  • Monitors employee attendance, appearance, conduct, professionalism, and adherence to assigned duties.
  • Conducts shift briefings and ensures effective communication between officers and management.
  • Addresses performance, conduct, and staffing issues in accordance with company policies and procedures.
  • Leads by example and promotes teamwork, accountability, professionalism, and excellent customer service.
Compliance & Safety
  • Ensures security personnel comply with company policies, post orders, safety procedures, and applicable laws and regulations.
  • Enforces established access-control, emergency response, workplace safety, and security procedures.
  • Conducts inspections to identify unsafe conditions, security vulnerabilities, and policy violations.
  • Ensures incidents, accidents, safety concerns, and security violations are promptly reported and documented.
  • Coordinates with management and emergency response agencies when necessary.
  • Promotes a safe and secure environment for employees, visitors, contractors, and property.
  • Maintains confidentiality and protects sensitive security and operational information.
Administrative Responsibilities
  • Completes, reviews, and maintains accurate daily activity reports, incident reports, shift logs, and other required documentation.
  • Maintains accurate records of staffing, attendance, post assignments, equipment, and security incidents.
  • Communicates shift activities, concerns, and significant incidents to management in a timely manner.
  • Assists with scheduling, staffing adjustments, call-offs, overtime, and post coverage.
  • Reviews reports submitted by Security Officers for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with established standards.
  • Assists management with investigations, audits, inspections, and security-related projects.
  • Maintains required training and personnel documentation.
  • Performs other administrative and security-related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Required
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Supervisory or leadership experience.
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
  • Strong computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office products.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple projects in a dynamic environment.
Preferred
  • Strong knowledge of security procedures, access control, emergency response, and incident management.
  • Ability to supervise, train, coach, and motivate security personnel effectively.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills.
  • Strong decision-making, problem-solving, and conflict-resolution abilities.
  • Ability to remain calm, professional, and effective during emergencies or high-pressure situations.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities.
  • Proficiency in preparing incident reports, daily activity reports, logs, and other security documentation.
  • Working knowledge of workplace safety practices and applicable security regulations.
  • Ability to use computers, email, security software, surveillance systems, radios, and other security technology.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to identify potential security and safety risks.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment when handling sensitive information.
  • Ability to work flexible schedules, including nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime as required.
  • Valid driver's license, if required by the position.
  • Current security officer/supervisor license or certification, where required by state or local regulations.
  • CPR/AED and First Aid certification preferred.
  • Bilingual or multilingual skills preferred, depending on the facility and workforce.
  • Previous experience in security, law enforcement, military, public safety, or a related field.
  • Previous supervisory or leadership experience, preferably in a security or operations environment.

Work Environment

This position operates in both office and field environments and requires regular travel between company facilities, client locations, maintenance vendors, and deployment sites. The Security Officer Supervisor is expected to respond to time-sensitive operational issues and support emergency deployments when necessary.
