Position Overview

This role ensures a safe environment within the healthcare setting by patrolling premises, managing visitors, and responding to security incidents. Employees may use defensive equipment as trained, but are not authorized to carry firearms. The position requires active participation in the mission and core values of Keck Medical Center of USC.

Essential Duties

• Maintain a visible security presence, deter crime, and monitor activities across various hospital areas.
• Assist with patient transport, including lifting and restraints, as needed.
• Interact with patients, visitors, and staff to address security concerns.
• Escort visitors and staff, monitor security logs, and report incidents.
• Ensure compliance with laws, regulations, and hospital policies.
• Respond effectively to emergencies and maintain security documentation.
• Conduct regular patrols and verify security measures.
• Participate in emergency response plans and safety training.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• At least 1 year of related security experience, preferably in healthcare.
• Experience with surveillance systems and report writing.
• Ability to respond swiftly to emergencies.
• Effective communication skills with diverse populations.
• Physical ability to handle interventions and restraints.

Preferred Qualifications

• Training in safety, fire protection, emergency preparedness, CPR/AED, and related standards.

Licenses and Certifications

• Valid California driver’s license.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• California Guard Certification (BSIS).
• IAHSS Basic Certification within 6 months of hire.
• Workplace Violence Prevention Certification within 6 months.
• Fire Life Safety Training (LA City) within 30 days if applicable.
