Security Officer - Security - Full Time 8 Hour Rotating Shift (Non-Exempt)(Non-Union)

Ensure a safe environment for staff, patients, and visitors through patrols, observation, and incident reporting. Respond to emergencies, enforce regulations, and maintain security documentation. The role involves providing physical assistance, escorting visitors, and ensuring policy compliance. Requires understanding emergency procedures and maintaining professional conduct.

Essential Duties

• Provide deterrence to crime and suspicious activities across various hospital areas.
• Assist with physical tasks such as patient and cadaver handling, and enforce security plans.
• Interact with patients and staff to address security concerns and carry out security protocols.
• Escort and assist visitors and staff throughout the facility and parking areas.
• Complete security competency tasks and ensure compliance with laws and policies.
• Maintain composure in urgent situations and handle multiple tasks effectively.
• Monitor security policies, respond to emergencies, and document incidents accurately.
• Verify materials/assets, patrol premises, and keep management informed of security activities.
• Participate in emergency response plans and ensure safety practices are followed.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• At least 1 year of related experience, preferably in healthcare.
• Experience with surveillance systems and report writing.
• Ability to respond effectively to emergencies.
• Effective communication skills, both oral and written.
• Knowledge of security equipment and operations.
• Physical ability to handle intervention incidents.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in safety, fire protection, emergency preparedness, CPR/AED, and security standards.

Licenses/Certifications

• Valid California driver’s license.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• California Guard Certification (BSIS).
• IAHSS Basic Certification (within 6 months of hire).
• Workplace Violence Prevention Certification (within 6 months).
• Fire Life Safety Training (for LA City, within 30 days if not already obtained).

The hourly rate ranges from $22.00 to $34.18, considering various factors during employment offers.
