Job summary

This job provides security for patients, guests, and employees as assigned, enforces company policies and procedures, and performs assigned duties that ensure the security of patients, guests, and employees in a courteous and professional manner.

Education

Required - High School diploma or equivalent

Work Experience

Required - 1 year of experience in Security, law enforcement, or military

Certifications

Required - Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association
Valid driver’s license in the state of practice and a clean DMV report
Crisis Prevention and Intervention (CPI), and firearms training

Knowledge Skills and Abilities (KSAs)

  • Must have computer skills and dexterity required for data entry and retrieval of information.
  • Proficient with Windows applications and keyboard.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present information clearly and professionally to varying audiences.
  • This position is considered Team A Essential Personnel and must report for duty in the event of a disaster.
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English fluently.
  • Ability to continuously walk the company property, including outside and interior areas, using stairwells in an 11-floor plus structure.

Job Duties

  • Enforce all safety and security rules, regulations, and policies on company property.
  • Conduct routine inspections of on-site and off-site locations.
  • Investigate accidents and incidents, reporting all occurrences promptly.
  • Perform opening/lockdown of all buildings as approved by administration and other security duties as assigned.
  • Participate in emergency response and preparedness drills.
  • Maintain required certifications and complete training within designated timeframes.
  • Adapt behavior to the specific patient population, respecting privacy, introduction methods, communication style, and permissions.
  • Other duties as required.

Physical and Environmental Demands

Medium Work - Exerting 20-50 pounds occasionally, 10-25 pounds frequently, and greater than negligible up to 10 pounds constantly to move objects. Requires walking or standing significantly and working at a pace that may be physically demanding. Exposure to blood, body fluids, or tissues is normal, with potential exposure to communicable diseases and hazardous waste within a healthcare setting.
