SCHEDULE
Relief Officer - Part Time
Job Summary:
Protects persons and property at Shore Regional Health locations by patrolling buildings and grounds to prevent fire, theft, vandalism, and other incidents that could affect operations or individuals.
Essential Functions of the Job:
- Patrols Shore Regional Health properties and off-site locations to prevent fires, theft, and vandalism; inspects doors, windows, and locks for security.
- Operates security vehicles as needed.
- Maintains radio contact at all times, acknowledging transmissions professionally.
- Ensures only authorized personnel access Shore Regional Health facilities.
- Locks and unlocks facility doors following established procedures.
- Utilizes Word, Outlook, and other computer systems necessary for the role.
- Maintains logs for lost and found items and notifies individuals accordingly.
- Serves on the Fire Control Team; responds to "Code Red" alerts and other emergency codes.
- Investigates incidents, writes reports, and documents findings.
- Responds to calls for assistance with disorderly or combative individuals.
- Handles Security Officer intake for emergency petitions and patients at risk, including stand-by and 1:1 observation.
- Processes Security Officer intake for patients admitted to Shore Behavioral Health.
- Inspects outgoing parcels to prevent theft.
- Stores patient valuables securely with proper documentation.
- Reports hazards, incidents, and accidents observed during patrols.
- Ensures fire lanes, hydrants, and ambulance entrances are clear.
- Issues parking violation warnings and reports employee violations.
- Escorts visitors, patients, and staff to parking areas.
- Assists with lock-outs and vehicle maintenance issues.
- Inspects firefighting and security equipment, reporting malfunctions.
- Maintains activity logs during shifts.
- Directs visitors and staff entering and leaving the premises.
- Activates helipad operations for inbound medevac flights, escorts crew, and provides non-medical assistance.
- Maintains Morgue Log and transports deceased individuals.
- Strives for service excellence in Security Department operations.
- Acts with honesty, complies with laws, regulations, and healthcare oversight requirements.
- Maintains confidentiality and security of protected health information.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Experience in security or related public contact preferred but not required.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills; proper cash handling experience is a plus.
- Valid driver’s license with a driving record meeting UMMS standards.
