Your role involves protecting all assets, staff, patients, and visitors at UCLA Ronald Reagan Medical Center. Security Officers conduct regular patrols, document activities and incidents, and may serve in a lead capacity. You will enforce policies, state laws, and follow all guidelines, including regulatory requirements. Ensuring the building's security after hours is also part of your duties.
Salary range: $22.47 - $29.09 per hour.
Qualifications- Possess and maintain current certifications: Guard Card, D.O.J. Chemical Agent, CPR, driver’s license, and BLS Certification (American Heart Association or Red Cross).
- Communicate ideas clearly and professionally in writing and verbally.
- Complete required training classes; training will be provided.
- Establish and maintain cooperative relationships with employees, management, law enforcement, and the community.
- Resolve issues independently within policies and procedures.
- Utilize available resources to solve problems.
- Operate security and office equipment proficiently.
- Maintain a professional appearance and deal diplomatically with the public.
- Relay information accurately in writing and verbally.
- Understand the impact of actions on the organization and demonstrate public relations skills.
- Assess and respond appropriately to problematic or emergency situations.
- Understand security policies and guidelines.
- Know the local geography to respond efficiently and serve as an information resource.
- Be familiar with penal and radio codes and radio communication language.
- Physically capable of handling interventions, including patient restraints and dealing with violent subjects.
- Perform sustained foot patrols, standing, lifting, and restraining as needed.
- Maintain visual and hearing acuity to detect and report issues promptly.
- Apply security practices, protocols, and techniques effectively.
Must hold a valid driver’s license, with a driving record compliant with policies, and be enrolled in the California Employer Pull Notice Program.
Note: Senate Bill 525, signed into law in October 2023, sets a new minimum wage of $23/hour for nonexempt healthcare workers starting June 1, 2024, and raises the exempt employee salary threshold to $1,380/week.
