Job summary

Allied Universal in New York, NY is seeking a Part-Time Security Officer (Unarmed) to patrol government locations, deter incidents, and provide friendly, professional service to visitors and staff. You will patrol interior and exterior areas, monitor access, report incidents, and follow emergency protocols while maintaining a visible security presence.

Qualifications

• At least one year of security-related experience.
• A state/municipal security license is preferred.
• A guard card or license is preferred.
• Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
• A background check is required as per federal, state and local laws.
• A drug screen may be required as a condition of employment.
• A valid driver’s license is required for driving positions only.

Responsibilities

• Provide customer service to visitors, employees, and the public at a government human services location.
• Respond to incidents, disturbances, and critical situations following emergency protocols.
• Conduct regular and random unarmed patrols of interior and exterior areas to deter unauthorized activity.
• Monitor access, verify visitor authorization, and report suspicious activity to leadership.
• Prepare accurate activity and incident reports and communicate with Allied Universal leadership.

What You'll Do:

• Provide customer service to visitors, employees, and members of the public at a government human services location while carrying out site-specific security-related procedures and policies.
• Respond to incidents, disturbances, and critical situations in a calm, professional, problem-solving manner, following established emergency response protocols.
• Conduct regular and random unarmed patrols of assigned interior and exterior areas, entry points, waiting areas, and perimeter to help deter unauthorized activity.
• Monitor access to the location, verify visitor authorization as directed, and report suspicious activity, hazards, and policy violations to appropriate personnel.
• Prepare accurate activity, incident, and daily reports, and communicate relevant information to Allied Universal leadership and site representatives.

Minimum Requirements:

• Possess at least one year of security-related experience.
• A state, county, or city-issued security-related license is preferred.
• A guard card or license is preferred.
• Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
• Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
• Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
• Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
• A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.
