The Security Officer is responsible for maintaining a safe, secure, and respectful environment for residents, staff, and visitors within the nursing home.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor facility access points, visitor logs, and surveillance systems.
• Responsible for weekly/monthly inspection of specified equipment.
• Conduct regular patrols of interior and exterior areas to ensure resident safety.
• Respond promptly and professionally to incidents such as disturbances, medical emergencies, or elopement risks.
• Coordinate with nursing staff, administration, and emergency responders as needed.
• Enforce facility policies while maintaining a calm, respectful, and compassionate approach.
• Prepare incident reports, daily logs, and shift summaries.
• Ensure compliance with HIPAA, facility regulations, and safety protocols.
• Identify potential security risks and recommend corrective actions.

Qualifications

• Current New York State Security License.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Minimum of 1 year of security experience preferred.
• Experience in healthcare, nursing home, or residential facility security strongly preferred.
• Strong knowledge of emergency response, de-escalation techniques, and access control.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to remain calm and professional in high-stress situations.
• Basic computer skills for report writing and incident documentation.

Salary Range

USD $29.40 per hour. This range serves as a good faith estimate and actual pay will encompass a number of factors, including a candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies and experience. The salary range or rate listed does not include any bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation that may be applicable to this job and it does not include the value of benefits.
