Job Overview:

The RWJBH Security Officer ensures a safe and secure environment for all patients, visitors, and staff by blending vigilance with compassionate service. You will be part of a team that represents the organization with a positive attitude during all interactions. The officer balances security protocols with understanding and respect for those in the healthcare setting. This role is central to upholding our commitment to safety, customer service, and supportive care, embodying our mission to protect and assist the people, property, and quality of our health system, together.

Qualifications:

Required:

• High School Diploma or GED
• Valid New Jersey Driver's License with eligibility for RWJBH insurance coverage
• Ability to obtain de-escalation training certification within ninety (90) days of hire

Preferred:

• At least one (1) year of customer service, security experience, or military service
• Proficiency in keyboarding, data entry, and Microsoft Office Suite
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Bilingual skills (e.g., Spanish, Portuguese, Polish) to communicate with a multilingual community, preferred but not required

Scheduling Requirements:

• 11:00 pm – 7:30 am
• Part-Time

Essential Functions:

• Conduct patrols and monitor facilities to maintain security, adapting to indoor and outdoor posts as needed
• Provide professional customer service while vigilantly addressing potential security threats
• Manage access control systems, perform data entry, and use Microsoft Office for incident reporting and administrative tasks
• Engage effectively with diverse populations using strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Perform weapon screening and enforce facility policies to ensure safety standards
• Respond to emergencies and participate in crisis de-escalation using certified techniques
• Other duties as assigned, with activities subject to change at any time
