Job Overview

The RWJBH Security Officer ensures a safe and secure environment for all patients, visitors, and staff. Combining vigilance with compassionate service, you will be part of a team that represents the Organization with a positive attitude during all interactions. The officer balances security protocols with understanding and respect within the healthcare setting, upholding our commitment to safety, customer service, and supportive care—embodying our mission to protect and assist people, property, and the quality of our health system.

Qualifications

Required:

• High School Diploma or GED
• Valid New Jersey Driver's License eligible for RWJBH insurance coverage
• Ability to obtain de-escalation training certification within 90 days of hire

Preferred:

• At least one year of customer service, security experience, or military service
• Proficiency in keyboarding, data entry, and Microsoft Office Suite
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Bilingual skills (e.g., Spanish, Portuguese, Polish) are preferred but not required

Scheduling Requirements

• 2:00 pm – 10:30 pm
• Part-Time

Essential Functions

• Conduct patrols and monitor facilities to maintain security, adapting to indoor and outdoor posts
• Provide professional customer service while vigilantly addressing potential threats
• Manage access control, perform data entry, and utilize Microsoft Office for reporting
• Engage effectively with diverse populations using strong interpersonal skills
• Perform weapon screening and enforce safety policies
• Respond to emergencies and participate in crisis de-escalation with certified techniques
• Other duties as assigned, with flexibility for changes
