Allied Universal in Silver Spring, MD is seeking a Part-Time Security Officer for a Community Shelter. You will screen visitors, verify credentials, and provide excellent customer service at a government location, with opportunities to patrol and respond to incidents.

This role offers flexible weekend scheduling and a pay rate of $22.09 per hour. Ideal candidates have at least 5 years in security, 2 years in healthcare, and a high school diploma.

Qualifications

• Must be 21 years of age or older.
• At least 2 years of service in a healthcare or medical-related field.
• At least 5 years of security-related experience.
• A guard card or license is preferred.
• Customer service experience is preferred.
• Access control and badge experience is preferred.
• Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
• A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.

Responsibilities

• Provide customer service to visitors, employees, and the public while carrying out site-specific screening procedures and emergency response activities at a government location.
• Screen individuals and belongings using screening equipment and established procedures, escalating prohibited items or concerns.
• Verify access credentials and direct visitors to appropriate entry points, reception areas, or authorized personnel.
• Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner and promptly notify appropriate personnel.
• Conduct regular and random patrols of assigned screening areas, entrances, and surrounding perimeter to identify and report unusual activity or potential security concerns.

What You'll Do:

Minimum Requirements:

• Must be 21 years of age or older
• Must have at least 2 years of service in a healthcare or medical-related field.
• Must have at least 5 years of security-related experience.
• A guard card or license is preferred.
• Customer service experience is preferred.
• Access control and badge experience is preferred.
• Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
• Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
• Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
• A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.
