Allied Universal is seeking a Security Officer – Part Time Access Control in Sparrows Point, MD. This role offers flexible hours with fixed anchor shifts and optional extra shifts through our scheduling platform to boost earnings. Eligibility includes age requirements, background checks, and a pre-employment drug screen.

Pay rate is $17.46 per hour with a part-time schedule. Ideal candidates are reliable, customer-focused, and able to work at a logistics/distribution site handling access control

Qualifications

• Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ for armed roles.
• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Applicants will be subject to a background investigation as required by law.
• A drug screen will be conducted as allowed by law.
• Licensing requirements may be required by state/local laws; driver's license is required for driving positions.

Responsibilities

• Provide customer service to personnel, visitors, and drivers by carrying out security-related procedures and site policies.
• Monitor access points, verify credentials, maintain entry records, and control access to restricted areas.
• Screen incoming and outgoing vehicles, drivers, and deliveries; report issues to site contacts.
• Respond to incidents calmly and document observations for appropriate personnel.
• Conduct regular and random patrols to deter unauthorized activity and identify security concerns.

As a Security Officer Part Time Access Control in Sparrows Point, MD, this role is designed to provide reliable, consistent hours at an assigned site with the flexibility for you to earn more by picking‑up additional shifts when it works for you.

Pay Rate: $17.46 / Hour

Job Schedule:

How This Role Works:

• Fixed-Shift Commitment (“Anchor Shifts”): You will be hired for a designated site and weekly shift that serves as your reliable base schedule. This assignment requires a six (6) month commitment.
• Earn More, Claim‑A‑Shift Program: In addition to your fixed shift, you may pick‑up extra shifts through our scheduling platform, allowing you to increase earnings and gain experience across multiple sites. Work part‑time hours this week and full‑time the next. It’s all up to you.

This role is ideal for candidates seeking part‑time employment with flexibility, income stability, and opportunities to build-up to a full‑time schedule of up to 40 hours per week; always with the option to scale back when needed.

Responsibilities:

• Provide customer service to personnel, visitors, and drivers by carrying out security‑related procedures, site‑specific policies, and when appropriate, emergency response activities at a logistics and distribution location.
• Monitor access points, verify credentials and visitor authorization, maintain entry records, and control access to restricted areas in accordance with site procedures.
• Screen incoming and outgoing vehicles, drivers, and deliveries as directed; communicate access issues, unusual activity, and policy concerns to appropriate site contacts.
• Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem‑solving manner, documenting observations and notifying appropriate personnel.
• Conduct regular and random patrols of the facility, loading areas, parking areas, and perimeter to help deter unauthorized activity and identify security‑related concerns.

Minimum Requirements:

• Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
• Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
• Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
• Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
• A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.
