Job summary

Disney is seeking a dedicated Security Officer in Houston for part-time roles. You will join a trained team providing 24/7 protection for coworkers and guests at our buildings and events. Responsibilities include visitor checks, crowd screening at shows, and incident reporting.

The role requires at least 1 year in security with strong communication, quick decision-making, teamwork, and the ability to work outdoors in all weather. Flexible shifts and overtime are required.

Responsibilities

• Greet visitors, check company IDs, and issue temporary IDs at building entrances.
• Evaluate and screen the audience at live TV shows.
• Be a security presence at premieres, events, or private parties.
• Patrol hallways and building perimeters to spot safety issues.
• Fill out logbooks precisely and completely.
• Respond to questions from visitors and employees professionally.
• Diffuse tense situations using training and calm communication.
• Assist first responders during medical or fire incidents.
• Coordinate with celebrities and dignitaries when needed.
• Control messenger flow and package delivery.
• Document incidents using available reporting tools.
• Conduct off-site event walk-through evaluations.

Job Responsibilities

Every day as a Security Officer is different! Depending on your shift, on any given day you might:

• Greet visitors, check company IDs, and provide temporary IDs at building entrances
• Evaluate and screen the audience line at live TV shows
• Be a security presence at movie premiers, live performances, events, or private parties
• Patrol hallways and building perimeters to spot safety issues or irregularities
• Fill out the logbook precisely and completely
• Answer questions asked by visitors and employees in a friendly, professional way
• Use your know-how and training to diffuse a tense situation
• Respond to medical or fire incidents, and work directly with local first responders
• Assist private security details brought by celebrities, sports stars, politicians and visiting dignitaries - even the President has been known to stop by
• Control messenger flow and package delivery
• Utilize technology to report and document incidents and manage information flow
• Perform walk-through evaluation at off-site events

Required Qualifications

• 1 year of corporate security, law enforcement or military experience
• Excellent communication skills, including fluent written and spoken English, and strong command of basic English grammar
• Ability to make quick decisions using your training and common sense
• The knack for talking to people in a friendly way that gets results
• A "team" orientation and willingness to collaborate
• Physical ability to perform all aspects of the job and be outside in all weather; and
• Flexible workdays/hours (this is a "shift work" role) and ability to work some overtime

Preferred Skills

• Valid Security Guard license issued by your state
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
• Experience working under pressure
• Ability to take command and diplomatically control difficult situations

Education

• High School Diploma or equivalent required
• Associate degree or higher preferred
