Qualifications

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications including Word, Power Point, Outlook, and Excel.
• Computer literacy with basic computer functions, email, internet, and basic programs such as Adobe Acrobat.
• Knowledge of basic security procedures.
• Knowledge in operating security and surveillance equipment.
• High level of good judgement and observation skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide substitute and/or call-in services of a security officer.
• Ensure and enforce all laws, rules and policies within his/her scope of authority.
• Foot patrols all assigned areas and remains alert for disturbances, fires, safety hazards, traffic violators, suspicious acts and/or persons, and other unusual conditions.
• Aid and assist visitors, student employees and staff in every way possible.
• Perform building security and safety checks.
• Receive complaints and perform appropriate investigations.
• Provide transportation service as needed.
• Investigate vehicle accidents at the Center.
• Issue visitor passes and temporary parking permits.
• Assist staff in quelling disturbances.
• Prepare written accident reports and other reports as required.
• Coordinate recruiting, selecting, and training of security cadets.
• Participate in preparation and enforcement of Center's safety and fire prevention program.
• Conduct daily briefing with security cadets that cover assignments, proper dress, and procedures.
• Provide written and oral reports, briefings, or summaries to appropriate staff.
• Ensure all equipment is properly maintained.
• Provide vehicle checks to entering and exiting traffic.
• Adheres to required property control policies and procedures.
• Work towards meeting performance standard goals.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Primary Position Objective

This position is an on-call position and work is on an as needed basis. Responsible for assisting with planning, developing, implementing, overseeing, and integrating safety and security programs for the Center on an as-needed basis.

Shifts can vary due to the 24/7 operation.

Experience

Two years security, law enforcement, military, or related experience. Safety related training preferred. At least one year in a residential living setting and background in youth programs preferred.

Education

High School Diploma Or Equivalent Required. Associates Degree Preferred.
