Job summary

UPMC is hiring a Full-Time Security Officer for Community Osteopathic, Harrisburg. This role covers night shifts (10:00pm–6:00am) with weekend and holiday rotations and requires excellent customer service. Act 235 may be required, with a $1500 sign-on bonus upon 2-year commitment.

Join our security team to maintain a safe environment for staff, patients, visitors, and families. Prior public safety experience is preferred, and training and benefits are provided.

Qualifications

• Prior public safety experience preferred.
• Excellent customer service skills required.
• Must obtain Act 235 if not already held.

Responsibilities

• Staff fixed posts to monitor ingress and egress to secured areas
• Provide customer service to patients, families, visitors and staff to maintain a safe environment.
• Inspect incoming and outgoing parcels as necessary to prevent theft
• Respond to and resolve problems, disputes and unusual circumstances as necessary.
• Maintain required certifications and licensing
• Assist with traffic control and vehicle assists
• Transport deceased to morgue / release bodies from morgue
• Monitor security, fire, and environmental alarms, respond to alarms and assist when needed.
• Patrol UPMC hospitals and grounds to deter crime and coordinate with police when needed
• Operate UPMC vehicles per Pennsylvania Vehicle Code
• Conduct patient escorts and stand-by details
• Complete mandatory training per guidelines
• Report incidents, suspicious activities and hazards

Seeking a team member with excellent customer service skills to join our security team, ensuring a safe and pleasant experience for staff, patients, and visitors at the hospital.

Individuals with prior public safety experience will be given priority.

Hours: 10:00pm-6:00am

Weekend and holiday rotation is required for this position.

Manager will discuss schedule further during interview.

Must be able to attain your Act 235 if you do not already have this.

Responsibilities

• Operate UPMC vehicles in accordance with the rules and regulations of the Pennsylvania Vehicle Code
• Conduct patient escorts and stand-by details
• Complete all mandatory training programs per departmental guidelines
