Job Description

ProMedica Monroe Regional Hospital offers a broad range of inpatient and outpatient services in southern Michigan and Ohio. A leader in treatment of heart attack, congestive heart failure, pneumonia, and surgical care, the hospital is also a pioneer in Michigan for obstetrics, emergency care, intensive care, infection control, and organ donation.

The Security Department, under general supervision, maintains the security of hospital property to ensure the safety of employees, patients, and visitors against fire, theft, and physical harm.

Accountabilities
  1. Provide security for all hospital properties, staff, patients, and visitors by patrolling assigned areas and acting when necessary. Monitor visitor conduct and question suspicious individuals.
  2. Assist employees, staff, patients, and visitors, promoting customer service and satisfaction in a courteous and professional manner.
  3. Adhere to all policies, procedures, safety standards, and objectives.
  4. Regulate and control vehicular and pedestrian traffic, including parking enforcement and traffic control when needed.
  5. Investigate and report accidents, hazards, and incidents involving loss, theft, damage, injury, and recovered property, preparing appropriate reports.
  6. Complete all required training, maintain certifications, and stay current with infection control and hazardous material measures. Maintain annual fit testing, CPR certification, and other in-services as required.
  7. Maintain knowledge of all equipment procedures and ensure all issued equipment remains operational.
  8. Secure and/or unlock offices and facilities.
  9. Assist with vehicle maintenance, including jump-starts and tire air pressure checks.
  10. Provide escorts as needed.
  11. Secure found items and valuables, completing documentation for their disposition.
  12. Assist with the restraint and observation of patients as needed.
  13. Attend meetings and perform other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements
  • Education: High School diploma or equivalent
  • Skills: Ability to work with diverse populations, excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills
  • License: Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
  • Certification: Complete Basic Security Officer Certification through IAHSS within six months of employment
Preferred Qualifications
  • Associate degree in security or related field
  • Experience in security
Working Conditions

Must be able to walk and stand for extended periods, frequently move and lift medium-weight objects, and occasionally assist with very heavy patients or individuals.
