Position responsible for assisting with the protection, security, and promotion of safety at a Memorial Hermann Hospital campus.
Job Description
Minimum Qualifications
Education: High School Diploma or GED
Licenses/Certifications:
- Certified as a Healthcare Basic Security Officer by the International Association for Healthcare Security and Safety (if not certified upon hire), must obtain certification within six (6) months of hire.
- Must be licensed as a Commissioned Security Officer by the Texas Department of Public Safety Private Security Bureau (if not licensed upon hire), must obtain license within 90 days of hire.
- Possession of a valid driver’s license (if from out of state), must obtain a Texas Driver’s license within 90 days of employment.
- Must be certified in Heartsaver CPR or Heartcode BLS CPR by the American Heart Association (if not certified upon hire), must obtain certification within 90 days of hire.
Experience / Knowledge / Skills:
- Age requirement: Must be at least 21 years old.
- Ability to understand and communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
- Proficiency in computer use is required.
Principal Accountabilities
- Monitor assigned areas to ensure maximum visibility of security presence.
- Post in assigned area or conduct patrols on foot or by vehicle.
- Ensure security of designated areas and access points; control vehicular access; identify and report hazards, suspicious activities, or breaches of security.
- Control access of areas and materials by administering visitor and material pass programs.
- Understand and comply with hospital, building, and departmental policies and procedures, including post orders.
- Respond to security and emergency situations; assist patients, visitors, and staff as needed.
- Complete and submit security reports and activity logs; operate and care for security equipment; know the location and operation of emergency systems.
- Ensure safety of patients, staff, and visitors; adhere to policies, procedures, and standards, managing time and resources effectively.
- Support professional growth through mandatory and ongoing education; serve as a mentor and resource to less experienced staff.
- Demonstrate commitment to compassionate, personalized care; model service standards by providing safe, caring, and efficient experiences.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
