Job summary

Allied Universal in Central Valley, NY is seeking a Part-Time Security Officer for Mall Perimeter Patrol. You will provide a visible security presence, monitor access, perform rounds, and assist guests with professionalism.

This role offers $17.00-$18.00 per hour, daytime schedule, and opportunities to learn our shift-claiming tools and grow within the company. Candidates should meet minimum requirements and pass background checks.

Qualifications

• Guard card or license preferred.
• Access control/badge experience preferred.
• Customer service experience preferred.
• Comfort using a computer/tablet preferred.
• Be at least 18 (unarmed) / 21+ (armed).
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Background check as per laws.
• Criminal histories considered per law.
• Drug screen required where permitted by law.
• Licensing requirements may be required.

Responsibilities

• Provide customer service to clients and guests in retail/tech locations, following security procedures and site policies.
• Respond to incidents calmly, coordinate assistance, and document outcomes per post orders.
• Conduct regular and random patrols to deter theft and unauthorized access.
• Monitor entry points and interior activity, report concerns to site leadership.
• Complete incident reports, shift logs, and patrol documentation; assist with access control and visitor management.

What You'll Do

• Provide customer service to clients and guests in retail and technology-focused locations by carrying out security procedures, site-specific policies, and when appropriate, emergency response activities.
• Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, including addressing disturbances, coordinating assistance, and following post orders for escalation and documentation.
• Conduct regular and random patrols throughout sales floors, stock areas, lobbies, common areas, and perimeter routes to help to deter theft, damage, and unauthorized access.
• Monitor entry points and interior activity, observe for suspicious behavior, and report concerns to site leadership and/or Allied Universal supervision using approved communication methods.
• Complete detailed incident reports, shift logs, and patrol documentation, and assist with access control and visitor management processes as required by site procedures.

Minimum Requirements

• A guard card and/or license is preferred.
• Access control and/or badge experience is preferred.
• Customer service experience is preferred.
• Being comfortable using a computer and/or tablet is preferred.
• Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
• Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
• Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
• Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
• A valid driver's license will be required for driving positions only.
