## Security Officer Level II### Category:Security### Department:Security### Status:Full Time### Schedule:Variable### Description:**Minimum Entry Level Qualifications**1. **Experience and/or level of competency: Must complete Texas Level II Non-commissioned Officer certification course prior to hire. Security Guard License required or must be obtained within 30 days of hire. Previous security officer experience preferred.**2. **Academic Preparation: High School Diploma or equivalent****Job Summary:**Protects life and property of all persons on hospital premises and patrols hospital buildings and grounds to prevent fire, theft and vandalism. Secures, unlocks and protects hospital buildings. Responds to security needs of hospital personnel, patients and visitors. Participates in performance improvement activities.**Specific Responsibilities:**1. Provides a visible deterrence to crime and prohibited activities by patrolling the buildings and grounds of the hospital.2. Responds quickly and effectively to emergent and non-emergent situations.3. Ensures only authorized personnel are admitted onto hospital premises.4. Escorts visitors, patients and personnel to and from parking areas5. Assists motorists who become stranded on hospital property.6. Performs all aspects of care and service in an environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medical/health care errors.7. Maintains current information in lost and found logs. Notifies individuals when items reported as missing are located.8. Issues hospital keys to authorized hospital personnel.9. Serves as a member of the Fire Control Team and responds to codes.10. Investigates incidents of unusual circumstances reported by hospital personnel, visitors, physicians or patients and reports all incidents, verbally or through general incident form, by the end of each shift.11. Writes accurate, clear and legible incident reports and documents investigatory steps and results.12. Responds to emergency calls for assistance to control disorderly conduct or combative patients including assisting patient care staff in restraining patients.13. Patrols buildings and grounds; inspects doors, windows and locks to determine level of security.14. Patrols parking areas to detect any irregularities.15. Inspects outgoing parcels as necessary to prevent theft of hospital property.16. Reports all safety and fire hazards observed on routine patrols and inspections.17. Periodically conducts security classes for new personnel and refresher security classes for current personnel.18. Assists and gives courteous responses to any inquiries made by patients, visitors or personnel.19. Monitors the hospital using electronic security equipment (closed-circuit television, alarms, etc.).20.
